Music and Images by the Labyrinth
Friday, November 12, 2010, 6 - 9 pm
Grace Cathedral, San Francisco
Join us for an inspirational Grace After Hours labyrinth evening with contemplative music and amazing images. Composer Martin Gregory deftly crafts memory, passion, and spirit of place into music which is meditative yet lively, moving and transformative. Fine art photographer Cindy Pavlinac presents a multimedia show of images projected onto 30 foot hanging silk veils featuring her photos of sacred places, pilgrimage destinations, prehistoric sites, and labyrinths.
Composer and musician Martin Gregory deftly crafts memory, passion, and spirit of place into music which is meditative yet lively, moving and transformative. Incorporating celtic, symphonic and jazz motifs, he layers sweeping harmonies and engaging melodies into a musical experience that transports the listener to places of mystery and power. Selections will include new improvisations and themes from his best selling music CD, Labyrinth Walk.
Fine art photographer Cindy Pavlinac will present a multimedia show of images projected onto 30 foot hanging silk veils. Specializing in images which convey the beauty, mystery, spirit and power of place, she works on location in Europe and America photographing ancient sanctuaries and modern expressions of the sacred. Her repeating show features hundreds of original photographs of legacy labyrinths from France, England and Chartres, modern labyrinths in California and the Midwest, mystical megaliths and holy wells from Britain, ancient Turkey, Black Madonnas, sacred places and landscapes.
Drop in any time during the evening, or come for the whole event. There will be open access to the Grace Cathedral Labyrinths and the Cathedral throughout the evening. It is free, part of the monthly Grace After Hours Labyrinth Walk, on the second Friday evening of every month.
